New Wine and Old Wine Skins

From the beginning there has existed a biblical precept which forbids the mixing (mingling) that which is not of it's like and kind. Plants were forbidden to be mingled as were animals, fabrics, the sexes, and even people.

Therefore, the question begging to be asked here is: Is the New Covenant to be mingled with the old covenant? The answer to this question, according to the words of our Lord Jesus, is a resounding NO!

The Scriptural Evidence

Within Luke chapter 5 (Mat 9:16-17; Mar 2:21-22) there is a teaching of our Lord wjich is, in my opinion anyway, very much neglected, even ignored by those who sit on Moses' seat within the Christian church today.

This teaching of our Lord expresses the ancient idea of keeping things of their like and kind separate from that which is not.

Scriptures tell us that since the beginning grass, herb and fruit seeds are to be kept after their own kind (Gen 1) and that the great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind.

This Biblical precept is continued on through the old testament scriptures and right into new testament teachings :

And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old. (Luk 5:36)

(Lev 19:19)  Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woolen come upon thee.

Question:

Has the church obeyed Jesus' instruction here?

I submit to you that it has not! Further more I submit that the church, generally speaking, has done the exact opposite! I fact, if you listen to what is being taught from the pulpits of most "Christian" assemblies today you would be hard pressed to hear any new testament doctrine being taught or new testament scriptures even mentioned.  I have even listened to whole sermons without ever hearing the name of Jesus even in passing.
