The Bible Verse That Changed My Life

Updated: Mar 6, 2020

ree

I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.  (Joh 16:12)

The apostles had been walking, talking, eating, and sleeping with Jesus for some 3 1/2 years and the time of Jesus' persecution and crucifixion was at hand. After the Passover meal our Lord Jesus prepared to wash the feet of His disciples and when He came to Peter we see this dialog:

ree

Lord, dost thou wash my feet?

Jesus answered and said unto him,

What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.  (Joh 13:6-7)

As I began to meditate on what I was reading it came to mind how Jesus took His disciples off to the side to explain His parabolic teachings to them because they could not understand (bear) them.

So much so that many of Jesus' (other) disciples often walked away from Him because they couldn't understand His sayings. (John 6:60-66)

The Question Here Is:

Where do we find these teachings, these "many things" that Jesus had yet to say that His disciples/apostles could not bear at that time?

Clearly these things can not be found in the old testament scriptures (Genesis-Malachi) because Jesus said that searching them to find life is not the way to life, (Matthew-John) because it is within the gospels that Jesus made the proclamation.

Rhema & New Testament Scriptures

ree

I believe that our new testament scriptures (Acts-Revelation) are the manifestation of the new covenant God has set in place for the redemption and salvation of mankind.

I also believe that they contain the "many things" which Jesus had yet to say to His disciples/apostles that they could not bear in the time of His earthen ministry.

Now there are unquestionably many things within our new testament writings, particularly within Paul's letters, that simply do not seem to align with old covenant teachings, and to rectify this alleged problem theologians came up with doctrines developed from their own wisdom and understanding rather than from the wisdom of God.

You see Brothers and Sisters, the problem is that there is no problem!

There seems to be a disconnect between the old and the new because there is a disconnect between the old and the new. There is supposed to be a disconnect between the old and the new and Jesus Himself said as much:

No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old (Luk5:36)

Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee. (Lev 19:19)

Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, be defiled. Thou shalt not plow with an ox and an ass together. Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woollen and linen together. (Deu 22:9-11)

The biblical principal of not blending or mingling that which is not of its like and kind has been something forbidden since the beginning yet it is apparently something deemed right to do with regard to covenants, customs, and traditions today (Judaeo-Christianity).

People simply refuse to let go of that which has changed because they are old bottles which have not been made new and believe the old is better. The Evidence? "Able ministers of the new testament" in today's church sure do a lot of preaching and teaching on the principals of the old covenant than the new. In fact I have many times listened to whole sermons not once hearing a verse of new testament scripture or even the name of Jesus Christ mentioned.

Why is this so? That depends on who you ask! If you ask a "bible teacher" they will tell you that there is too much preaching and not enough teaching.

if you ask a preacher they will tell you that there is too much teaching and not enough preaching.

If you ask me, I will tell you that there are too many preachers, teachers and pastors sitting in Moses seat today who believe that they are operating in the Spirit who were clearly not appointed to and anointed for their ministries.

Stay Tuned for Part 2
