Have You Ever Heard of Phosgene Gas?

I bet you have. During WWII it was called Mustard Gas!

Outlawed by The Geneva Convention, classified as a WMD.

Germany first introduced phosgene to the chemical agent battlefield in Belgium on December 19, 1915. Because of its tendency to dissipate rapidly, phosgene only proved effective when employed in large numbers of munitions with very high field concentrations. Weapons such as projectiles, mortars and bombs previously used phosgene, dispersing as a vapor or aerosol droplets that vaporized rapidly.

Now I'm sure that by this time you've heard about the derailment of a freight train with 20 cars loaded with hazardous chemicals East Palestine, Ohio. Five of the derailed cars were carrying the chemical vinyl chloride, a type of gas.

Exposure to vinyl chloride, a key component in mustard gas, is associated with certain forms of cancer, according to the National Cancer Institute.

According to the CDC, Phosgene (COCl₂) is a colorless gas with a suffocating odor like musty hay. Exposure to phosgene may cause irritation to the eyes, dry burning throat, vomiting, cough, foamy sputum, breathing difficulty, and chest pain;

Classification of the substance or mixture:

GHS Classification in accordance with 29 CFR 1910 (OSHA HCS)

Gases under pressure (Liquefied gas), H280

Acute toxicity, Inhalation (Category 1), H330

Skin corrosion (Category 1B), H314

Serious eye damage (Category 1), H318

My Question Is:

Why is the equivalent of a chemical Chernobyl in the US being so under reported by the Lame Stream Media? And by the so called alt-media for that matter?

What are they trying to hide this time?

As I was digging I found this to be interesting:

Feb 6 2023 (CNBC)

An official with Norfolk Southern Railway said Monday that the controlled release will take between one to three hours, depending how much chemical has burned off already.

“The process we’re going to do today, we’re going to place a small shaped charge, it’s going to create a hole about 2 to 3 inches into the tank car. This will allow the material to come out of the tank car, it’ll go into a pit and trench that we have dug and set up for this operation.

Inside that trench will be flares … That will then light off the material,” the official said.

Environmental fate:

Phosgene does not persist in surface water, groundwater or soil that contains moisture because of its rapid breakdown into carbon dioxide and hydrochloric acid. Phosgene does not persist in dry soil because of its tendency to evaporate readily.

Now I know I'm no rocket scientist but it seems to me that the process seems okay, out of the car and into the ground. But then we get to the "flares to light off the material".

According to the army, this substance will not persist in soil that contains moisture because it will rapidly break down into carbon dioxide and Hydrochloric Acid (also known as: Calcium Chloride), which is the main component of gastric acid, an acid produced naturally in the human stomach to help digest food.

NOW IF surface water, ground water or moist soil render it inert, why fire it up and release it into the atmosphere when it's only going to fall back to the ground because it is 3 times heaver than water? GOOD THINKING EPA!

Keep an eye on this story because folks in Ohio and PA may start to fall ill in the near future!

From the ACMA: Health Effects

Exposure to phosgene vapor may cause immediate, mild irritation of the eyes, nose, throat and respiratory tract.

When the mild irritant effects subside, a symptom-free interval may occur, during which time the individual feels fine.

HOWEVER, within several hours after exposure to high concentrations of phosgene, the air sacs in the lungs begin to fill with fluid and the exposed individual starts complaining of chest tightness, coughing and increased shortness of breath.

The individual may develop frothy secretions at the mouth with dramatic drops in blood pressure and “dry land drowning” in the lungs.

Human exposure data suggest that acute lung damage from phosgene exposure could result in the development of chronic bronchitis, asthma and emphysema, particularly if respiratory tract infections complicate recovery. ACMA

Keep an eye on this one and PRAY God protect these people from illness or death due to this failure of governance on all levels!

Any thoughts?
