I see this as mankind seeing him/her self for the very first time graceless.
From that very moment forward every single person to enter into this world by woman, save Jesus Christ, does so tainted by original sin.
We are all born spiritually dead and at enmity with our Creator!
Personally I do not believe that it was Adam and Eve's natural eyes being opened that caused them to see their nakedness, rather that it was their spiritual eyes being dimmed or even closed which caused it.
I believe that spiritual sight, like sunglasses, filters out the physical so that the spiritual can be clearly seen.
My Question Here Is:
If this is true how can one rightly see the spiritual?
And if one can't rightly see the spiritual how can one rightly judge anything carnal if everything in the spiritual realm is manifested in the natural realm?
The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive (discern) that thou art a prophet, our fathers worshiped in this mountain and ye say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
Jesus saith unto her, Woman believe me the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain nor yet at Jerusalem worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews but the hour cometh and now is when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Now I've said all of that to say this:
Before the fall Adam and Eve walked and talked with God in the garden.
After the fall of man the voice of God was only heard for a short time and eventually God was only speaking to man through men. (His prophets).
Likewise God was only revealing Himself and His plan for the redemption of mankind to the people in various physical forms "types and shadows" of Himself never revealing the fullness of His person, until Jesus Christ, the Son of Man entered the world!
The same can be said for God's plan for the redemption of mankind, that He is revealing that which is to come within the shadows of that which has been, until the arrival of our Lord God Jesus came to show us The Way!
And still, within the recorded ministry of Jesus, there can be found many types and shadows of that which is yet to come.
People tend to forget, fail to consider, or even ignore that Jesus' ministry took place before the new covenant came into force. At the time the Jews were still under the old ministration of the law, at enmity with God, spiritually dead (blind & deaf), lost and without understanding, and still without Holy Spirit (The Comforter - The Spirit of Truth) for guidance, understanding and wisdom.
Jesus walked the earth preaching and teaching the word of God to the Jews and healing their physical miladies. But is that what He was really doing?
I believe that the miracles done by Jesus in the natural were types and shadows of that which was about to happen in the spiritual.
Just as it has been from the beginning!
When Jesus opened the eyes of the blind and the ears of the deaf, when He healed the lame and cured the sick, what was He really doing?
He was doing in the natural realm what was taking place in the spiritual realm.
He was making these people whole in the natural realm to demonstrate what was going to happen within the spiritual realm. The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.
Opening spiritual eyes to see and ears to hear, softening the hearts so that they can receive His words, renewing their hearts and minds to get their attention off of the natural life (that which is) and focus on the spiritual life (that which is yet to come).
And even with the manifestations of the kingdom on earth in this present age and with the power of God within us as we walk through this life in His Spirit, there are still types and shadows from both covenants yet to be noticed or to be made manifest in the natural.
And who knows what types and shadows are being created today for tomorrow?
Beloved, now are we the sons of God and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see him as he is. (1Joh 3:1-2)
Be Blessed!
